Introduction to diversity management

The module provides a fundamental understanding of what diversity management is and why it is crucial for an inclusive and sustainable work environment. You will gain insight into how diversity management can contribute to increased innovation, well-being, and fairness—and why it is a necessity in today’s working life.

Through reflections, exercises, and examples from research and practice, we explore how diversity can become a strength—when approached with awareness, competence, and leadership. You will gain insights, skills, and practical tools that you can apply in your own daily work as a leader.

Toolkit

As a key part of the project, a dedicated toolkit is being developed for addressing diversity within one's own unit. We are also including links to other resources for working on diversity in our sector.

Module content and learning objectives

We normally meet for half a day. Here are the objectives for the meeting:

  • What diversity is – visible and invisible diversity
  • The leader's role and responsibilities in diversity work
  • How bias and privilege affect the work environment
  • Motivation for working on diversity
  • How to create an inclusive "we" in the organization
